Brave New World: Legalizing Pot( do not knock it until you try it)?

Published by laces007502 at 10:37 am under Entertainment & advice! Edit This

Yes, the subject always comes on and off during debate, should Pot be legalized or not? What are the benefits and what are the cons? In the past two weeks, people from Rhode Island to California want an answer.

I find it amusing that it is “time” to debate when the state governments start to drastically struggle financially. Arnold Schwarzenegger, governor of California and previous(may still be ) public pot smoker is serious about legalizing pot in California for recreational use. Sounds witty, who does not need extra revenue these days? But how much profit could pot make for California? I doubt it would be enough to get California out of its deficit.

The whole scenario reminds me of the book Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, where the citizens are displayed as happy because they numb their existence/reality by taking prescription drugs and having sex constantly. To some, this might sound like a grand idea! No lousy 9 to  5 job to really worry about because you are so happy to be high, literally on life!

What would be so problematic about recreational pot? Nothing.

In fact, California, since 1996, has medical marijuana (pot) already legal under law. It conflicts with federal law but no one really complains about medical marijuana in California. Of course the critics still exist but critics will always exist.  An individual can buy reasonable quality pot for 5 dollars to 150 dollars in California. It comes in rice krispy treats, brownies, smoothies, and its original form! Great for on the go and makes for happy campers!

I mean, they legalized alcohol in this country, the federal government might as well legalize pot! The problem with this idea is the greed the government has for tax revenue. Do not let the government fool you, it is all about the dollar bill! The greed for high taxes is going to make people stay with the black market supplier!

Let us go through a short and painless economic lesson! Demand for pot is high! When demand is high the supplier can increase production or decrease production. If decreasing production and the product is in high demand, the customers are most  likely to pay a higher cost for the product(especially if it is inelastic, necessary want or need). However, if a supplier makes cost too high, demand will inevitably decrease! People will find a substitute supplier or product! The government will mess up its own hustle game to get a dollar. Point blank.

The state government of California believes recreational pot has potential to raise about $1.2 billion per year in taxes if there is a $50 an ounce tax on pot! It is rumor, through a field poll, that 56 percent of registered voters support pot being legalized. If the majority agree, then what is halting the law being passed?

Here is how I see it. Pot brings all kinds of walks of life to the table! If legalized pot stores surround local consumer shops ,such as clothing and food stores, people will buy pot and other products in the area. If people are educated and not acting a fool all the time, pot could work in favor for all parties involved. But greed and people being foolish always ruins a great idea!

If California legalizes pot, other states will follow. Are we creating our Brave New World? Are we ready to do so?

I say the middle class has disappeared, might as well see if pot can save  us from our own demise. Either we all will get a good laugh about it, be slackers or it actually becomes highly beneficial.  We might start producing cool babies like the one below, starting with legalizing pot! Until then, happy Sunday!
